Michael is the visionary behind
the firm. He is passionate about Strategic Talent Acquisition
and Human Capital that drives Shareholder Value. Michael’s
decision to build an “advisory based” executive
search firm was produced from his spending more than a
decade recruiting partners and building practice teams
within some of the world’s most noteworthy professional
services firms.
“Our work
in consulting involves the selection and placement
of $1 MM a year [income] Partners in strategy, technology
and operations competencies. We were conditioned
to operate with these kinds of significant investments
and decision processes in mind. We apply that level
of thought and execution in all segments of our
markets and it works. Our methods combine superior
research and market intelligence report building
with a proven, case-driven project management and
personal relationship approach.
Human
Capital Strategy is the marketing, planning and
execution mindset to significantly enhance Talent
Sourcing & Acquisition as well as Retention,
Succession Planning, and Professional Development.
Michael
believes that executive search firms should be able
to add significantly more value to their clients
than just “picking potential candidates”.
He says, “Most people can understand the requisite
skills for a particular role in a given segment.
The differentiating quality lies in the ability
of the firm to think beyond the “search process”,
and operate both at the 30,000 foot level while
maintaining and managing the program on the ground”.
He adds,
“We’ve got to break with tradition here.
That’s why we started Solomon Case & Co.
as a Human Capital Strategy firm, not just a search
firm. We have to build into the project management
approach all foreseeable conditions and potential
difficulties, current and future. The fee structure
should reflect certain of these conditions to make
a more beneficial and productive arrangement.
The core
concept for Solomon Case & Co., is based upon
3 distinct organizational groups: Solomon
Case & Co. Strategic Talent Sourcing & Acquisition;
the Solomon Case & Co.
Advisory Board; and Select
Partners driven technologies that dramatically
improve individual and team-based contribution and
performance.
“The
‘search process’, is a rather poor descriptor
of what clients want. Clients demand more value
and more forward thinking ability. What we have
done, and in fact were doing for ten years in the
predecessor company was truly, ‘Strategic
Talent Sourcing & Acquisition’. Solomon
Case & Co. was built to better manage the singularly
critical engagement as well as to advise and execute
long term, system-wide recruitment strategies. We
intend to shift the client perception of the process
from one of ‘search’, which doesn’t
even imply an “end”, to ‘sourcing
and acquisition’, a term our clients understand
and internalize better anyway. The difference lies
in the ability of the firm to navigate cultural
& management issues, operational hurdles, succession
planning, integration and traction.
Michael
believes that the Solomon Case & Co. organizational
structure is the key to providing not only human
capital acquisition services, but also many other
enablers including ways for clients to better handle
their own internal recruitment programs.
“The
dramatic difference with Solomon Case & Co.
is this, we have created an Advisory Board to push
our level of performance and thought generation.
We align ourselves with Select Partners where technology
plays a significantly innovative and productive
role toward Management, Professional Development
and Contribution. The Advisory Board is made up
of senior professionals from industry, venture capital,
consulting and boards. These people are of one mind
in that human capital performance and contribution
is a very compelling area of corporate competitive
advantage. One that should realize a greater return
on effort and investment. Our Select Partner group
is made up of professionals that first understand
human capital issues and also possess the technological
horsepower to bring about truly innovative products
and turn key solutions.
“An
advisory based firm like ours can offer many different
paradigms of thought, tailored to a specific client
to determine their best course of action. It may
be that adding staff or filling or creating a specific
position within the organization is unnecessary
or, it may be that now is not the right time and
another course of action should be followed.”
Michael’s
vision for the firm is to deploy highly motivated,
creative practitioners that can infiltrate particular
segments of the market, showing obvious and non-obvious
solutions to human capital issues in a pricing-conscious
way. To then aggregate the internal competencies
of Solomon Case & Co., The Solomon Case &
Co. Advisory Board and Select Partners where appropriate
and beneficial.

Michele LaMarche-Craig - Managing Director
(michelecraig@solomoncase.com) 832-495-7722
Michele joined Solomon Case & Co. in 2008 to provide research, administration and concierge-styled candidate handling services. Her professional experience draws from almost 20 years in Executive Search, Executive Coaching and graduate level academic counseling.
She is the liaison for Human Resources Executives in client organizations charged with search and recruiting tactical strategy, recruiting prioritization, knowledge management, and ensures quality standards and protocol are followed in all search engagements.
“I think the
term ‘Professional Service Firm’ is
inappropriately applied to most executive search
firms. There is nothing professional about billing
clients for work not completed. Sometimes, these
things are unavoidable - clients are using more
than one firm, they are accepting unsolicited
resumes from contingent firms, etc. However, I
believe once a client has found a firm they can
trust, they would have little motivation to go
anywhere else for candidates. As I understand
from speaking with people at competing search
firms, this industry only fills approximately
50% of their retained searches. Even more rare
is that the positions are filled with the right
person – someone who meets not only the
position description but also meets an organization’s
cultural needs. This is unacceptable performance.”
Belinda’s
decision to be a Co-Founder of Solomon Case &
Co., is based upon her desire and ability to advise
clients on each topic along their growth strategy,
culture and organizational needs.
She adds, “This is why Solomon Case &
Co. was founded. We want to be challenged by our
client relationships to help them do what’s
right and logical. We advise our clients and candidates
on life-changing decisions, not just career path.
Belinda
has helped establish the methodologies, toolkits
and dialogue approach that enables Solomon Case
& Co. to advise and implement hiring and integration
strategies.
“For me, it’s about getting at the
right variable’s in decision making. Let’s
discuss the uncomfortable – let’s
talk about successes and failures, about wants
versus needs, about the gray matter that is not
found on a position description or resume. Identifying
and measuring this substance translates into higher
value for both the employer and employee. This
is especially critical in senior level integration
and continued professional development.
Belinda
holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
Prior to her career in Search, she was the Vice
President of Operations for a publicly traded
environmental firm. Belinda has worked with some
of the largest strategy consulting and most notable
boutique firms worldwide. She has also worked
with industry clients in the energy, high tech
and pharmaceuticals areas.
